Li Tianbing: Lost Childhood

15 October - 15 November 2020
Overview
JD Malat Gallery is proud to present PARALLEL, the gallery's first 3D exhibition space. Displayed alongside exhibitions from the gallery's physical space, PARALLEL will form part of the gallery's online presence for thematic exhibitions. PARALLEL will seek to give JD Malat Gallery a strong online platform alongside the art world's move to more concentrated online initiatives via online viewing rooms, online art fairs and online auctions. PARALLEL seeks to extend and maintain the gallery's drive towards situating established and emerging artists within the framework of contemporary art historical discourse.

PARALLEL will launch on 15th October with a solo exhibition by Li Tianbing (b.1974) entitled Lost Childhood. Consisting of older and more recent works, the exhibition looks at the theme of childhood and education during times of distress and political oppression. As a product of the one child policy in China, Bing's paintings serve as a potent reminder of both the lack of freedom and companionship experienced by many children of the artist's generation.
