Summer Exhibition | London

JD Malat Gallery London is pleased to present our Summer Group Exhibition, featuring 24 works by 16 artists. These works present different textures, from physical impasto to reflective effects of light to atmospheric visual effects. 

The Summer Group Exhibition emphasises JD Malat’s diverse range of artists and their individual artistic expression through texture. Among these works are Conrad Jon Godly’s heavily impastoed portrayals of the Swiss Alps, presenting dynamic layers which instil feelings of tranquillity and the sublime. Complementing these is Santiago Parra's monochromatic display of automatic brushstrokes, uneven textures, and abstract expressivity. Meanwhile, Richard Hudson's three sculptures question the relationship between natural and bodily forms and the limitations of light through highly reflective, smooth, polished surfaces.

Han Ji Min’s soft, muted colours and Nikolai Makarov’s diffused lighting create atmospheric, blurry textures that shroud their figures in a sense of mystery and ephemerality. Phoebe Leech's paintings from her Male Domesticity series combine expressive mark-making with moments of male vulnerability to explore the fragmentation and concealment of identities.

The exhibition’s emphasis on the artists’ diverse range of artistic styles, mediums, and perspectives spotlights the bold contributions that contemporary artists are making to today’s visual culture. The Summer Group Exhibition invites viewers to engage with the multifaceted concept of texture, encouraging a greater appreciation for the intricate layers of meaning and materiality in each piece, fostering a rich dialogue between artist, artwork, and observer.
