Biography

Hande Şekerciler (b. 1982, Bursa, Turkey) attended Marmara University, studying in the Department of Arts and Crafts Education from 1998 to 2002.

H is a London-based sculptor whose practice explores the body as an emotional landscape. Working across bronze, stainless steel and marble, she bridges centuries-old sculptural craftsmanship with contemporary methods of making, combining traditional techniques with digital modelling, 3D scanning and additive manufacturing to develop a distinctive contemporary figurative language.

At the centre of her work is the human figure, approached not as a static representation but as a site where multiple and often conflicting emotional states coexist. Through gesture, touch, surface and form, her sculptures investigate vulnerability, intimacy, tension and the invisible psychological forces that shape our relationship with ourselves and others. Rather than portraying individual identities, her works give physical form to inner experience.

Her practice moves fluidly between digital and physical processes, bringing together mould making, metal casting, carving and hand-applied patinas with contemporary fabrication methods. For Şekerciler, technology is not a subject in itself but an extension of the sculptural studio.

Alongside her individual practice, she co-founded the artist duo ha:ar with Arda Yalkın, and is also a co-founder of Piksel.Creative Solutions and Noise Media Art. Through these platforms she has collaborated with institutions including Ars Electronica, SONICA, the British Council and the Institut Français.

Şekerciler has presented solo exhibitions in London, New York, Venice, Milan, Istanbul and Ankara. She is represented by JD Malat Gallery in London.
