DUBAI: Ghanaian-British artist Kojo Marfo presents his first solo exhibition in the UAE, HOME: Heart of My Existence, at JD Malat Gallery in Dubai. Running from April 16 to May 31, 2025, this exhibition brings together thirteen monumental and bold works, inviting viewers to a deep and intimate reflection on what the word "belonging" really means and where this feeling comes from.
Upon arriving in Dubai, Marfo shared his first impressions in an exclusive interview: "Everyone seems very polite and disciplined," he said. "It makes things feel very authentic, and you feel freer to do what you want. The energy is incredible-everyone seems positive and enjoying life to the fullest."
A framework that perfectly fits HOME , a series that Marfo describes as an introspective turning point in his artistic journey. Renowned for his vibrant style, which he calls AfroGenesis, the artist blends influences from his Ghanaian heritage-particularly Akan artifacts and sculptures-with Western artistic movements such as Cubism and the techniques of the Old Masters. This gives rise to a unique visual language, where monumental and colorful figures, both enigmatic and deeply expressive, take shape.
