Anila Ashraf

Anila Ashraf (b. 1978) is a Dubai-based ceramic artist and the founder of LaTakhaf Ceramics, where she has developed a practice centred on wheel throwing and experimental ceramic techniques. Since beginning her journey with clay in 2020, Anila has cultivated a distinctive artistic language that embraces the transformative qualities of the medium, using ceramics as a vehicle for exploration, resilience, and creative expression.

Working at the intersection of functional design and sculptural form, Anila reimagines traditional wheel-thrown vessels through processes of alteration and material experimentation. Enhanced with specialised glazes and tactile surfaces, her works blur the boundaries between utility and abstraction, inviting viewers to engage with them both as functional objects and contemporary sculptural forms.
